Description
I am a musician / songwriter who is learning to play the pedal steel. I'm interested in playing pedal steel with someone who writes original folk / country / pop songs. I like all sort of music, but within the traditional scope of pedal steel-adjacent artists, love early country / roots / Americana - (Neil Young / Gene Clark / Gram Parsons / Townes Van Zandt / Michael Hurley, etc). I have a lot of experience playing other instruments (guitar/bass/keys/synth), but am very much an amateur on pedal steel. Still, I am interested in developing this skill alongside someone else who is working on their own material that they are passionate about.
I also play in a post punk band and travel outside of Boston for practice on a weekly basis, so I'm not willing to travel far and I'm looking for something where we get together a couple times a month, at least initially. Primarily interested in writing / recording / supporting an original artist, but could be open to performing at some point. Ideally you are in Jamaica Plain or are within a 15 minute drive of JP. I would also ideally want to play in a context where we're playing quietly enough to play in a home, rather than a designated band practice space with a full drum kit, etc.
Let me know if this sounds like something you'd like to explore! As this will be something I'll ask for eventually, please share links to your original recordings if you reach out.
