BREAKAWAY COMEDY SHOWCASE 9/9 with Paul D’Angelo/Paul Gilligan and Friends PAUL D’ANGELO - Paul Murphy spent eleven years as an assistant district attorney supervising several of Massachusetts' busiest courthouses before becoming a successful criminal-defense trial attorney. The unexpected twist to this story is that, under the pseudonym Paul D'Angelo, Paul simultaneously became one of the nation's top stand-up comedians. Paul has opened for over sixty internationally known acts, including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Tom Jones, Tony Bennett, The Beach Boys, Chicago, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Jerry Lee Lewis, Huey Lewis & The News, The Righteous Brothers, Lyle Lovett, George Carlin, Joan Rivers and Dennis Miller; in famed entertainment venues from the legendary Friar's Club and the Waldorf Astoria's main ballroom in New York City, to the main showroom at Harrah's Casino and Caesar's Palace. PAUL GILLIGAN - Paul Gilligan is one of the most requested comedians in Boston, bringing down the house with an attitude first developed as a high school class clown, and with material culled from his life as a blue collar worker, husband and father. In addition to headlining in Boston clubs, golf tournaments, fundraisers, roasts, and other events, Gilligan has appeared on NESN's Dirty Water TV and is a regular on the networks's, Charlie Moore Outdoors with the Mad Fisherman. DAVE RUSSO - As co-host of NESN's Dirty Water TV, he produces a regular comedy series, in addition to reporting on the best of Boston night life. He has appeared on The E! TV series "The Entertainer", NBC's "The Today Show," FOX 25 with Gene Lavanchy, "The Phantom Gourmet," and was hand selected by the producer of NBC's “Last Coming Standing” to perform on NESN's Comedy All-Stars. Dave was recently featured on BostonGlobe.com's "Boston, A Comedy Capital" panel, where he participated in a discussion of the history and future of Boston comedy. JIMMY CASH- Cash, who has come to be known as the “janitor with stamina,” is looking forward to giving folks a night out, and delivering a fresh dose of material that, to his surprise, has blended quite nicely with the older material that stood the test of time while away he was from the stage. “I thought all of the old material would be obsolete, and that I’d have to build a whole new act,” Cash tells Vanyaland. “But I found that, blending a little bit of the new with some older stuff over the last few shows has given the old stuff a bit of a new kick. It’s been fun to mix things up like that.”
