Black Iowa Streams Presents: The Comedy Kickback The Comedy Kickback is an all black stand up comedy experience produced by the Black Iowa Streams, INC. comedy collective based in Des Moines, IA. The show began after the group founders grew tired of being cast as “diversity” bookings on shows. Because of the sheer small number of black comedians in our area, we rarely got a chance to perform together. We began working with an independent artist space in 2019 and selling it out numerous times, we expanded into partnership with Teehee’s Comedy Club in Des Moines in 2020. After producing limited capacity socially distanced shows as available through the COVID-19 pandemic, we turned our focus towards taking The Comedy Kickback on the road and secured a secondary residency with The Backline Comedy Theater in Omaha, Nebraska and now look to expand outward.
