Description

Learn about the neural underpinnings of social behavior! Youth visitors are invited to explore the social brain with Amber Thatcher, Behavioral and Systems Neurocience doctoral student in the UM Department of Psychology. Amber will share about her neuroscience research with degus (a highly social Chilean rodent) to understand the neural underpinnings of social behavior. Older children and teens will engage in a hands-on neuron building activity. The UM Living Lab engages children and families in science through participation in research studies, science activities, and educational events in order to inspire the next generation in science. Located in the new Missoula Public Library, the UM Living Lab was created through a partnership between the City of Missoula, University of Montana, and the Missoula Public Library, and funded through a Science Education Partnership Award through the National Institutes of Health.
