Learn about estuarine science in real-time on the trails at Weedon Island! September is National Estuaries Month! Join UF/IFAS Extension Florida Sea Grant Agent Libby Carnahan for a walk at the Weedon Island Preserve to celebrate the largest open-water estuary in Florida: Tampa Bay! Libby will define estuaries and estuarine habitats and talk about the unique characteristics of Tampa Bay. Libby will also discuss recent issues that have put the health of Tampa Bay in jeopardy. This hike will be roughly 1-2 miles in total length on paved trails or boardwalks, and will go at a leisurely pace. Recommended for adults and youth ages 10 and up.
