NORTH PATCHOGUE, NY — A teenager riding a bicycle was involved in a collision with a car and was seriously injured in North Patchogue on Sunday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
Police said Michael Ainslie was driving a 2015 Nissan eastbound on Barton Avenue, "when the car collided with" Ryan Kropf, who was riding a bicycle northbound at the intersection of Washington Avenue, at about 1:25 p.m.
Police could not specifically say how the collision occurred.
Kropf, 14, of Patchogue, was taken by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of "serious injuries," police said. Ainslie, 50, of East Patchogue, was not injured, according to police.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said. No further details were released by the police.
