SHOREWOOD, IL — A 32-year-old Chicago man spent two days in the Will County Jail following his arrest last week by Shorewood police on drug possession and weapons charges. The arrest of David Anzelc happened July 25 along Shorewood's stretch of Black Road.
Since then, the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has charged Anzelc with unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle.
According to the criminal complaint, Anzelc "knowingly possessed a knife, commonly referred to as a switchblade knife, which has a blade that opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in the handle of the knife."
His other charges include that the Chicago man "knowingly possessed more than 30 grams but not more than 100 grams of any substance containing cannabis."
The third charge indicated that Anzelc was driving a Nissan Versa along Black Road in Shorewood while in possession of marijuana "and he possessed cannabis within any area of said motor vehicle and said substance was not in a sealed, odor-proof, child-resistant cannabis container."
Will County Jail logs show Anzelc was released from custody around 6 p.m. on July 26.
