Whenever I have no rational explanation for something

I really like falling back on "It must have been God's will". This can be used to explain anything from Hitler to the neighbor's cat getting hit by a car. If the person I explain God's will to asks "Why did God will that to happen", there's a second favorite I use that covers it every time, "God works in mysterious ways". To be honest, I'm not even a Christian and I realize that what I'm saying amounts to "Who knows" and "Who cares" but it just sounds so much nicer and it seems to make the hicks happy when I say it. Personally, a God that makes people and uses them like action figures in the sandbox to see what happens if he lets German rearm itself after WW I but is too busy to explain why in a way anyone will understand just doesn't seem like someone I feel like worshiping once a week for an hour.
