Description
Hello, meet Fry. He is an 8 month old Chihuahua mix, probably part Italian Greyhound or Whippet based on his appearance. He is neutered and up to date on shots and microchipped. We got him a few weeks ago when we were looking for another dog to add to our family. He and his Chihuahua mom were posted on Craigslist together. She was found as a stray when she was having her puppies and Fry was the runt and was kept with his mom when they were adopted out. The family that adopted them couldn't keep them any longer and that's when we adopted them. Fry is the sweetest puppy and has been great with our three kids. He came to us shy and under socialized but has quickly warmed up and is much more confident and playful. He likes to play and wrestle with our dog but is also calm and quiet. He is gentle and loves to snuggle. He is submissive and would likely get along great with other dogs who are smaller or gentle as he is quite small. He probably weighs about 5 pounds or so. Because Fry spent his puppyhood in an apartment prior to living with us, he has not been socialized to the world outside. He is learning to walk on a leash and doing much better. He is getting more comfortable with passing cars and people but still a little weary of noises and unknown things we encounter on walks. I have seen great improvements with him in just a few weeks and I think he will continue to become more confident with continued walks and training. He will need to learn basic commands like sit and come. He behaves well in the house. The area that he is still working on is potty training. His last family had a doggie door and they said that he was potty trained using the door. We don't have a doggie door and we have been working diligently with him to train him to go in a certain area outside. He has had accidents in the house, both pee and poo and also in his kennel in the early morning hours if he is not left out early enough. He is starting to understand more that going inside is not ok but we are still watching him carefully to ensure he is not allowed to wander the house unattended to prevent unwanted accidents. He will need a family who can continue helping him with potty training for the next couple months until he figures out how to hold it and signal that he needs to be left out. Alternatively, he would probably do well with pee pads inside or a doggie door where he can go on his own when needed. He has a small birth defect where his lower jaw did not grow long enough to close in his top teeth. It's a pronounced over bite that leaves his upper front teeth exposed. This does not hinder him at all and he eats well and can carry toys and play tug of war just fine. We have found that his mom is perfect for our family and she will fit in great, having two dogs will be the right amount for us. We would like to find Fry a home with someone who has time and patience to work with him through potty training and basic commands. We want to make sure he goes to a caring home with people who have lots of time to spend with him and that any dogs or children in the home are gentle. He is eating Blue Buffalo small breed food. If you would like more information about Fry, please call or text me at . Serious families only please! We are asking a $200 rehoming fee, thank you!
