I am a guitarist with over 40 years playing experience and over 30 years gigging experience in bands and solo acts as a rhythm, lead and a slide guitarist. I teach guitar from the basics to advanced playing in many different styles. My main focus is to not teach a student how to play a song but to give the student the skills to listen and then work it out themselves. There is some music theory involved but its not as painful as some may think. Having fun is the key here and learning how to listen to other musicians as well as what you will be playing at the same time is very much encouraged. Chord structure, chord progressions, guitar scales and timing are just a few things taught at the beginner level. More advanced styles and techniques are taught after that. All students must have their own guitar, acoustic or electric w/amp and guitar cable is fine. The age range I teach is between 8 years to an adult. Parents are encouraged to take part in lessons with younger students at no extra charge. I will drive to your location (within a 30 minute drive of Winchester) to make it easier.
