Pejepscot History Center's popular Summer Walking Tour series - Chamberlain’s Bowdoin, led by John Cross. For years, Pejepscot History Center walking tours have offered stories of the past, perspective on the landscape, social time, and exercise to participants. Of the 12 tours this June-September, a whopping 8 are brand new or heavily revised. Please visit https://pejepscothistorical.org/events/summer-walking-tours for full descriptions of all tours. Chamberlain’s Bowdoin, led by John Cross. In celebration of the September 10 Chamberlain Legacy Lecture. Anyone who knows John, the Secretary of the College, a position he took over from his father before him, knows he’s a walking encyclopedia of all things Bowdoin College history. That’s absolutely true when it comes to Joshua Chamberlain’s time as professor, and later President, of Bowdoin. John knows all the stops, haunts, and tales related to Chamberlain’s long tenure with Brunswick’s academic crown jewel. Please note that this tour begins at Massachusetts Hall, on the northwest end of campus. Participants meet at starting point. Please check-in with tour leader at least 10 minutes prior to tour time. Space is limited. PHC maintains a waiting list for each tour in case of cancellations. Most tours are 75-90 minutes. Pejepscot History Center is a non-profit, educational organization charged with preserving the collective heritage of Brunswick, Harpswell, and Topsham. The Society owns and operates the Joshua L. Chamberlain House Museum and the Skolfield-Whittier House, both of which are open to the public Memorial Day-Columbus Day. For further information please call the Center at 207.729.6606 or find us at www.pejepscothistorical.org.
