Description

Hi, I am a local bee keeper. I really love working with honeybees. Someday I hope to breed queens that are better adapted to modern challenges like the varroa mite. In order to breed queens I will need to keep many beehives in many places. Currently, my bee yards are happily buzzing with bees and I'm looking for more land where I may keep honeybees starting in Spring of 2022. I will happily give away honey or other bee products to any landowners that are interested in partnering with me. I will do any necessary labor and provide equipment for keeping the honeybees. I need to retain ownership of the bees and the equipment while it is on your land. I am happy to teach others about beekeeping and possibly start beginners on their path to beekeeping along the way. People are always shocked by how gentle the bees tend to be. Many cities have relaxed beekeeping regulations. For example, home owners in Naperville with less than a quarter acre sized lot can have up to 3 beehives! Larger lots are allowed to keep even more beehives. Currently I am working with the Fox Valley Park District with an apiary near the community garden plots of Sugar Grove. I also have another apiary on private land working with an organic farmer. I have plans in the works for a beeyard at the Farnsworth House as well as the Oswego Park District, and a few other organizations and also a couple homeowners. I am happy to partner with any farmers, home owners, businesses etc. There must be a minimum of two beehives in a beeyard. Each beeyard needs about 20-30 feet of clearance from the hive entrance. Beehives can be placed within hedges, out in open fields, upon rooftops or many other configurations. Honeybees forage for 3-5 miles and our region is abundant with honeybee forage, you don't need to feel responsible for providing for them. Together, we can figure out a way to help bees thrive on your land. I am happy to travel 20-30 miles any direction from Sugar Grove, IL. Humans and honeybees make great partners. If you are interested in helping me bring more bees into the world please email me and if you'd like we can connect on the phone to start planning for Spring of 2022! Thank you so much for your time.
