Most of my neighborhood has been taken over by immigrants, mostly Hispanic people, speaking little English. Get along with most of them. Did have an issue with one who often climbed over my fence ignoring the no trespassing signs. Finally got him to understand I did not appreciate that, and he stopped. Most work as contractors. Construction, landscaping, employing mostly other Hispanics. Those that work the construction trades have mostly taken the work from local young people who would normally be seeking employment in those fields. This has added to homelessness issues and drug abuse as young people try to cope with their frustration. This has not been helped by government whom will not allow employers to discriminate against illegals. Gotten to the point that an employer can get sued for hiring a non-ethic person over any ethnic applicant. I have a truck with a crane, and a custom lowboy trailer I built from scratch. Took me over two years to build it. My neighbor brought over one of his non-English-speaking employees or friends. The fellow recently came from Guatemala I suspect with little more than the shirt on his back. He INSISTED that I sell my truck and lowboy trailer to him. I told him they were not for sale. Finally convinced him, (though his interpreter friend) that he could find a better one at the Richey Brother's Auction. (and got him to leave) Any of my neighbors will attest to the fact my place is the Crappiest place in the area. I have lived here 40 years and don't intend to sell. I still get people stopping by wanting to buy or rent my place. Had bad experiences with tenants using drugs. Have to be very selective. Have had threats of lawsuits for not renting my place to people whom are smokers and acting goofy. It seems our days of living here are numbered. And so far, the State and county have not offered any relief from oppressive zoning and water-rights issues to give people a place to go. Thanks for reading this, Bill.
