OAK LAWN, IL — After taking a year off due to the pandemic, Oak Lawn Police and Oak Lawn EMS-Fire-Rescue have a full slate of activities planned for National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Enjoy demonstrations by the police K-9 unit, and rescue and fire. Tour the police and fire stations (maybe see the jail if no one is in there) and meet Oak Lawn's first responders. The FREE event will be held at the Oak Lawn Municipal Center, 9446 S. Raymond Ave.
Food, giveaways, local vendors and the U.S. Army Recruiters will be featured. The list is still being finalized based on the availability of staff, but here are some National Night Out activities tentatively planned for Aug. 3, including:
SWAT equipment for kids and adults to see and suit up Evidence technician demonstrations Tours of the lock-up (jail) facility Car extrication performed by OLFD Child ID (fingerprinting of children) For more information about Oak Lawn's National Night Out festivities, please email Sgt. Since 1984, police departments and communities across the United States have held National Night Out events on the first Tuesday in August. More than 38 million neighbors in 16,000 communities throughout the nation will participate in National Night Out, promoting public safety and building community.
