Description
This is Betty - she is a four-year-old Green Cheek Conure. Her hatch date is 08/14/2016 and will be five years old next month. She has not been DNA tested, so I do not know for sure whether she is female or male. She rarely bites and loves to sit on shoulders, help you eat your food, fly around the house, groom her favorite humans, be a watch bird (she lets us know if someone's at the door) and taking baths in the kitchen sink. She hates feet and will bite your feet - HARD. We have had her since she was weaned. She lives with fish tanks and two small dogs. Once she gets familiar with you (which doesn't seem to take long for visitors), she will fly over to you and sit on your head or shoulder. It shouldn't take her long to warm up as long as you are nice to her and patient with her. She free flies around the house when we're home and absolutely LOVES it. Her flying skills are amazing to watch! We usually let her out after work, and when it gets dark it's super easy to get her back into her cage. She can't see well in the dark so willingly comes to you and you can just put her back in her cage. She also will cuddle with us if we're watching a movie in the dark. She will sit right under your chin or rest her beak on your lips or fingers. She eats Zupreem pellets and a seed mixture and likes a lot of different people food like noodles, peppers, celery, grapes, watermelon, bananas, spaghetti, peas, etc. She loves sharing juice with you too - her favorites are Acai, OJ and CranRaspberry. We need to move and we are moving in with someone who has a dog that is known to kill outdoor birds and I just don't want to take the chance with her. I need to find a GOOD home for her. She MUST go to a home experienced with conures. I will not rehome her to someone that is not familiar with conures or birds in general. No smoking home. I will be picky because she is such a sweet girl and deserves the best, most stable home. Don't even bother contacting me if you can't provide that for her. I will not rehome her to a breeder. She should be a pet-only home. If you have other pet birds, that's fine. She would probably like a pal. She has a $300 adoption fee which includes her, her large cage, an extra cage, bird stand, toys, perches and food. She must come with her cage and accessories - I will not rehome her alone without her stuff. It will make her feel more secure to have her own cage and belongings while getting used to her new people.
