National Retail Transportation is looking to hire a Yard Master to join the Family! Our Yard Master's primary function of this position is the responsibility for coordinating activities of yard switchers. Works in yard and in coordination with warehouse managers and/or dispatchers. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee and coordinate the activities of workers in the yard. Tell yard switchers where to move trailers to fit the planned configuration or to load freight. Ensure that trailers are carrying the correct material before leaving the yard. Review schedules, switching orders, and shipping records of freight trailers. Operate freight trailers within yards. Arrange for defective trailers to be removed for repairs. Inspect defective trailers. Switch trailer traffic to a certain section of the yard to allow other inbound and outbound trailers to get around. Delegate work and provide directions. Remain informed about trailer content. Add or remove trailers. At least 23 years of age High School Diploma/GED preferred. Valid government issued Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL). Safe driving record (MVR, CSA, and previous employment). At least 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years Medical certification as approved and provided by DOT authorized physician. Ability to work well with people and maintain good relations with co-workers and customers in a professional manner. Ability to work in an organized and independent manner. Ability prioritize work assignments and manage work time effectively. Physical demands: sitting; standing; talking; hearing; listening; viewing computer monitor; frequent maneuvering of body including pushing, pulling, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping; frequent use of hands and arms in reaching, handling or manipulating objects or controls; ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work environment: indoor and outdoor work environment (depending on assignment and in all weather conditions).
