Description

Join Cincinnati Preservation Collective clean and preserve Chestnut Street Cemetery! Join Cincinnati Preservation Collective as we partner with the Ohio History Service Corps, City of Cincinnati and Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati to clean and preserve the Chestnut Street Cemetery in the West End. The clean up will take place prior to the Jewish Bi-centennial and rededication of the Chestnut Street Cemetery. David Harris from the Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Cincinnati will provide a brief history of the cemetery and Jewish history of Cincinnati followed by a general overview of cemetery preservation. AmeriCorps member, Carrie Rhodus, will then lead us in a gravestone cleaning demonstration. Participants will work in pairs to clean stones and will be provided all supplies. Please wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting dirty in. Please bring your own water. The cemetery is located at 400 Chestnut street at the northwest corner of Central Avenue and Chestnut Street in the West End. *PLEASE NOTE* that google maps will take you to a different location in Evanston. Parking is on street. We will meet in the courtyard area in front of the cemetery (visible from Central Ave.) Registration is required for this event. If you have any questions, please contact Carrie Rhodus at [email protected]
