Tour the Our Modern Manor, a historic Depression-era estate in Topeka's beautiful Westboro neighborhood, September 24 – 26, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Our Modern Manor Showhouse Tours run from Friday, September 24 to Sunday, September 26, from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm each day. (Tickets can be used during any of the three tour days) Location: 1501 SW Westover Road, Topeka, KS 66604. * Last tour begins 1 hour before closing. * This home is not handicap accessible. * Photography permitted only in designated spaces. A limited number of tickets are available. Built in1939, this 9,200-square-foot architectural icon was owned by just one family prior to homeowners, Matt and Sara Vincent. The previous owners' grandchildren recall stories of parties and gambling in the '40s when the house became a de facto speakeasy during prohibition (which didn't end in Kansas until 1948). The Vincents, who own Topeka-based Golden Rule Remodeling, embrace the history of this grand Depression-era estate, honoring its original charm while infusing it with their warm approach to a modern design.
