Description

Sisters On The Streets To Distribute Period Supplies In Partnership With U By Kotex® And National Foundation For Women Legislators WHAT As part of a national initiative to combat period poverty, U by Kotex® and the National Foundation for Women Legislators, in partnership with the Alliance for Period Supplies, invite the Los Angeles community to donate period products to the With You, She Can Get Back to School Product Drive and Distribution Event on August 13, an initiative to raise awareness of period poverty and get products in the hands of students in need. U by Kotex will match donations to Sisters on the Streets, up to 40,000 period products. Local volunteers and elected officials will distribute period supplies to low-income families and students during the event, as well as accept donations from the public to support Sisters on the Street, a program part of the Alliance for Period Supplies. Additionally, community members are invited to drop off donations to Sisters on the Streets prior to August 13 event, or donate through the organization’s Amazon wish list at the QR code below: The event also aims to raise awareness of the need to enact meaningful legislation that would provide access to period supplies in schools, especially in low income communities, to help ensure students don’t miss classes due to a lack of period supplies. The organizations support Assembly member Cristina Garcia’s Assembly Bill 367, which aims to ensure free access to menstrual products in California public schools.
