Description

Join Arizona Care Hospice for an opportunity to experience healing from losses experienced while serving our country. Arizona Care Hospice invites Service members, Veterans, their families and the community to attend the Fallen Comrades Ceremony. This ceremony, created by the non-profit Opus Peace, provides a safe sanctuary where Service members and Veterans can acknowledge, mourn and redeem loss. Losses experienced by military members may include the loss of comrades who died in battle, loss of physical and mental health, or the loss of the pre-war self. At this event, they acknowledge hardships, receive information about how to face these challenges and work to integrate their losses symbolically. There is a gaping hole in our society from the aftermath of war caused by unmourned losses sustained by Veterans, as well as unforgiven guilt over things they think they should or should not have done. This sometimes leaves a hole in their souls (i.e. "Soul Injuries") that continue to exert their influence throughout their lifetime. Community members are welcomed and encouraged to participate! At the event, civilians have an opportunity to recognize, honor and share in the burdens of military service and war. Please join us for this special and unique ceremony that supports the emotional healing of those who sacrifice so much to defend freedom. There will be a special recognition for our Vietnam veterans. Due to the nature of this event, it is probably not ideal for children under age 12 to participate. If you have questions, please contact Robin Waters at 480.588.8200.
