SOMERVILLE, MA — Back-to-school planning has already begun, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in the Somerville Public Schools.
The first day of school for most students in Somerville is Sept. 1.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point.
Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:
September – 20 days1 – 1st day for students 1-12 (1/2 day)3 – No School6 – No School - Labor Day6-8 – Rosh Hashanah*9 – 1st day for Kindergarten and Pre-K students15 – Yom Kippur*
October – 20 days11 – No School – Indigenous Peoples' Day
November – 18 days2 – No School – Election Day, Prof. Devel.4 - Diwali11 – No School – Veterans Day24 – Begin Thanksgiving Recess at noon11/28-12/6 – Hanukkah*
December – 17 days23 – Begin winter recess at close of school(Includes Christmas – 12/25 and Kwanzaa – 12/26)
January – 20 days1 - No School – New Year's day3 – Classes resume6 – Three Kings Day/ Dia De Los Reyes17 – No School – Martin Luther King Day
