Seniors Can Get Charlie Cards In Salem Monday

SALEM, MA — If you are a senior citizen on the North Shore with an MBTA Charlie Card that has expired Monday is your chance to get a new one without having to make the trip into Downtown Boston. State Sen. Joan Lovely and State Rep. Paul Tucker are hosting a Senior Charlie Card Day at the Mayor Jean A. Levesque Community Life Center where seniors can get a new card for reduced fares on the commuter rail, subway, bus and ferry service. The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon and is by appointment only. Those picking up cards must be at least 65 years old and must bring valid identification that includes a date of birth. Call Rosanna Donahue at 978-744-0924 to make an appointment. Those who have an expired card must reapply at this event or at the Charlie Card store in Boston. Those with a card that is about to expire can renew it over the phone at 617-322-3200.
