Man Dies After Attack In Bronx Following Minor Car Crash

BRONX, NY — A man's death has been ruled a homicide after he and his brother were assaulted following a minor car accident, police said Thursday. Though Geuris Guillermo, 42, was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital in stable condition after the Sunday morning attack, he lost consciousness and suffered internal bleeding before dying two days later, the New York Daily News reported. Just before 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, Guillermo and his brother, Ambiori Guillermo, 38, were involved in a non-injurious car crash near the corner of East 176 Street and Carter Avenue in Mount Hope, police said. The occupants of the car the Guillermo brothers collided with "exited their vehicle and began to assault both males," police said, and the Daily News reported that a group of 10 to 15 people beat them and raided their car, stealing musical equipment and throwing clothing on the ground. Ambiori Guillermo was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Lincoln in critical condition, police said. The car occupants – Thomas Ellington, 29, and Luciano Norales, 27 – were taken into custody from the scene and charged with assault and attempted robbery, according to a police report. They were freed on bail until Geuris Guillermo's death raised the attack to a homicide. Norales told a detective that he didn't hit Guillermo, but said he wanted to, according to a report the Daily News obtained. "I was so angry but I didn't," Norales said. "I grabbed him and I said 'I need your information,' and then he ran."
