Join us for our Summer in the City Book Launch and POP UP SHOP on Aug 15, 2021 starting 1pm. Join us for a FUN family event at the historical Nile Swim Club located in Yedaon PA! We will be celebrating the newly released Summer in the City children's book with games, waterice, giveaways and more! You can pre-order your book to reserve you copy in advance. *Admission into the swim club is not reuired to participate; however, you can purchase day passes to enter! Dear Beautiful Brown girl is an empowerment group for girls. Dear Beautiful Brown Girls promotes and celebrates images of people of color in a way that encourages positive self-esteem and cultural acceptance. Through a variety of high quality print rich materials and literature, Dear Beautiful Brown Girl spreads positive messages and images using diverse characters, events, and materials that are relatable, lovable and meaningful. Our four core principles include:  Develop a strong sense of self in young girls through affirmations and positive images. Establish and maintain healthy habits and routines to strengthen independence and personal success.  Infuse young girls of color with a culture of literacy rich experiences through quality works that celebrate diversity. Provide platforms that encourage young girls to find and use their voice to affect change and build positive community relationships.  The Afternoon of Affirmation is a Dear Beautiful Brown Girl initiative that addresses all four principals.
