Description
BELLEVUE, WA — Back-to-school planning has already begun on the Eastside, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in the Bellevue School District. The first day of school for most students is Sept. 1.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. A mix of in-person, virtual and hybrid learning is still possible for Bellevue students.
Kids who are returning to the classroom will need to have masks in tow. While the state has not issued a universal mask mandate, students and school staff alike are required to wear masks while on school grounds. State health leaders say the concession is necessary to protect students under 12, who are not eligible for vaccination.
"Importantly, this is a legal requirement that all districts will have to follow," said Gov. Jay Inslee at a news conference Wednesday.
