The Minutes showed that Smithtown Town Board on March 9, is renewing this program for the current year. "Residential Repair Program Agreement between the Town of Smithtown and the Suffolk County Office for the Aging, Agreement No.001-6777-4980-95285, effective April 1, 2021 through March 31, 2022, ot to exceed $23,631.0"
While there is no charge for labor, participants pay for, or provide, all materials. Items that can be handled by this program are leaky faucets and running toilets ;installation of locks; adjustments on doors and installation of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.The program will install bathroom grab bars and indoor railings; do 1st floor gutter cleaning ;replacement of light fixtures and change hard-to-reach light bulbs.
Huntington Town also offers a more extensive service through their Senior Citizens dept.
