Fairfax Man Faces Assault Charges After Gas Station Dispute

RESTON, VA — Fairfax County Police arrested a Fairfax man Monday afternoon in connection with an assault at a Sunoco Gas Station in the Herndon area, according to the weekly crime report. Around 3:52 p.m., the victim approached a man at the pumps of a gas station in the 13400 block of Coppermine Road and asked the man about his car. The man, whom police identified as Varun Balan, 33, of Fairfax, became upset. Another man at the pumps tried to intervene, but Balan assaulted both of them, according to police. FCPD arrested Balan and charged him with two counts of assault and batter and disorderly conduct. Police are also investigating a robbery that took place at 9:30 p.m., on July 23, at Hidden Creek Country Club. An unknown individual forced their way into the business located at 1711 Clubhouse Road in Reston and stole property.
