Falling Branch Brewery is now hiring one Cellar Operator to assist the Brewing Operations Manager with a wide variety of tasks throughout the brewing process, and to help ensure the execution of quality products. The position will be part-time with an estimated three 8-hour weekdays required per week. This role is hands-on and often involves working as part of a team as well as lifting over 55 lbs. The ideal candidate is passionate about good beer, hardworking, and has a desire for continuous learning and improvement. Falling Branch is a farm brewery in Street, MD with an emphasis on great beer and an unforgettable experience. Originally a fourth-generation family dairy farm, we are now a rapidly growing company (over 1,000% growth over the last five years) with that growth projected to continue. As a major expansion of our brewhouse production completes, we are seeking a talented, ambitious individual to help take Falling Branch to the next level. EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION•1 year of brewing or related experience.SKILLS•Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities.•Flexibility to work varied shifts.•Attention to detail.•Communication and interpersonal skills.•Pragmatic and effective problem solver.•Ability to properly use safety equipment & personal protective equipment (PPE). •Mechanical and plumbing aptitude.WORKING CONDITIONS•Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. at shoulder height.•Prolonged standing.•Ability to work over, under and around potentially dangerous/moving machinery in small spaces.•Ability to withstand various Temperatures and weather conditions, as well as being wet.•Comfortability working at heights and using stairs repeatedly.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESCellar Operations:-Start-up and shut-down of facility processes.-CIP and sanitization of Fermenters and Brite tanks, lines, yeast brinks, canning line, and other various equipment.-Performing gravity reads and dry hopping of fermenters with accurate documentation.-Keg cleaning and filling.-Cleaning and sanitizing filtration equipment and lines.-Preparing cellar systems for daily start-up.Brewhouse Operations:-Start-up and shut-down of facility processes.-Milling and hop/antifoam/spice additions.-Maintaining turbidity, CO2 and O2 levels within product specifications.-Performing dilution and flavor checks.-Maintaining brewhouse vessels, facility, and physical plant for tour-worthy conditions.•General:-Informing Head Brewer/Brewhouse Operations Manager of any issues and resolutions; communicating issues and concerns as they arise to staff and management.-Accurate daily record keeping and sampling of process and product.-Monitoring quality parameters and working to resolve issues promptly.-Communicating critical information to appropriate departments.Participating in taste panel work as directed.-Contributing to a positive work environment through open and constructive dialog.-Contributing and being receptive to continual innovation and improvement.-Maintaining a safe and orderly work environment within department as well as entire facility.-Keeping workspace organized and neat throughout shift.-Following all company policies as detailed in the employee handbook (attendance, safety, IT protocols, etc.).-Assisting other departments or performing other tasks as needed.-Other duties as assigned.QUESTIONSQuestions or concerns can be directed to [email protected].
