$400 Million Investment, 300 Jobs Coming To Henderson

By Morgan Keller, WNIN July 30, 2021 Pratt Industries plans to build a $400 million paper mill in Henderson. The paper mill will produce one hundred percent recycled products. Noting that it is the biggest economic development project in western Kentucky in a quarter century, Governor Andy Beshear made the announcement in Henderson Thursday afternoon. Pratt's paper mill will create 321 new jobs paying an average of thirty nine dollars an hour and benefits. Construction will begin in March of next year and will finish in the fall of 2023. The mill will produce completely recycled paper products. Pratt also expects to build an adjoining factory three years later. Beshear said, "What that says to me is Pratt is in it for the long haul, right here in Henderson." A Pratt facility has been in Hebron, Kentucky since 2011, making this new mill Pratt's second investment in the state. The Executive Chairman of Pratt Industries, Anthony Pratt said that the mill's sustainability efforts will save the equivalent of 25 thousand trees every day. Pratt praised the efforts of Kentucky and Henderson economic development officials for putting the project together in about three months. A contractor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is once again dredging the Ohio River navigation channel at Evansville.
