Description

Press release from the Poway High School: 7/30/2021 Dear Parents/Guardians of Poway High School Students,  We recognize the pandemic has presented a number of challenges for many of our students. Offering options to help students who may have struggled with disrupted classroom routines is a priority for us at PUSD.  Accordingly, Assembly Bill 104 (AB 104), allows parents to opt for changes in a student's grading option from a letter grade to Pass/No Mark for the 2020-2021 school year only.  The PUSD Grade Change Form for Pass/No Mark request is available on our school's website or by clicking here.  We recommend having a conversation with your student's counselor prior to submitting a request to change your student's grading option under AB 104 as there may be ramifications that could affect college admissions. For a list of colleges that will accept Pass grades please see List: California Postsecondary Institutions Accepting Pass/No Pass Grades.  The deadline for requesting a grade change is Friday, August 20th.   Other options offered under AB 104 include allowing students to repeat their grade level and allowing high school juniors and seniors to request an exemption from certain graduation requirements.  While these options won't be appropriate for every student, they may provide an opportunity for some students to catch up.  Given our Trimester Schedule and our PUSD Alternative Programs, students are more easily able to remediate and make up credits without having to be retained or repeat a grade level.  For questions or concerns about exemptions or retention, please contact your student's counselor or school site administrator.    At Poway High School we want to work collaboratively to ensure decisions are made in the best interest of every student and their learning.  Please, contact student's counselor or school site administrator if you would like more information about other alternatives provided by Assembly Bill 104.  Respectfully, Principal Richard Nash This press release was produced by the Poway High School.
