LA GRANGE, IL — A Chicago man tried to escape from La Grange police officers trying to arrest him, then a woman pulled his hair when he was in custody, police said. The incident occurred shortly after midnight July 20 at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Eighth Avenue. Aracely Hernandez, 24, of La Grange, was arrested on charges of domestic battery and obstructing an officer. Eric Hernandez, 25, of Chicago, was arrested on charges of violating an order of protection and resisting arrest. Patch obtained the full police report through a public records request. According to the report, neighbors heard the two arguing in an alley near the apartments. When police encountered Eric Hernandez, he was frantic, so they asked him to sit down, according to the report. He refused at first, saying, "No, you guys are going to arrest me," police said. Then he said, "I'm gonna be honest. She has a restraining order against me. I can't be nowhere near the property right now," police said. When an officer clarified about the restraining order, the man confirmed it, adding, "So I gotta get out of here." Officers asked him to put his hands behind his back, to which Eric Hernandez responded, "Nah, nah," then ran away, according to the report. An officer pulled on the man's shirt to stop him, then officers took him to the ground, police said. As officers were securing Eric Hernandez, Aracely Hernandez grabbed him by his hair, police said. An officer separated the two by pulling on Aracely Hernandez's hair, the report said. She, too, was arrested. According to the report, Eric Hernandez had earlier picked up an intoxicated Aracely Hernandez from a party at her best friend's house in Cicero. Once they arrived at the apartment complex, neighbors witnessed commotion in a car in an alley, police said. Afterward, one neighbor said Eric Hernandez was bleeding, so the neighbor offered him a bandage, according to the report.
