Description
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — ComEd is hosting a hands-on, in-person event with 100 students to support and encourage students of color to participate in STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and math). ComEd says the event will rally more women and students of color interested in STEM, to bring more into the field.
The event will take place on Saturday, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 3500 N. California Ave.
According to a news release from ComEd, during the in-person event day, the students will rotate through five different Marscapes in which each teen will have to use their own rover and learned skills to solve a task. Two students from different teams will drive their rovers on the "station," while the rest of the team will have to solve a STEM challenge as a group.
The event follows three virtual programs where students learned to build their own Mars rover using provided blueprints and solve virtual challenges working in teams.
