Description
Hello! I'm a rock/indie/post-punk/alt-country/folk/singer-songwriter human being looking for serious minded, high energy bandmates who also happen to be critical thinkers. In the very near future, I'd love for us to play shows on a regular basis and, yes, even travel. If that sounds like a lot of fun, read on! I'm currently completing a a full-length record and am playing all of the parts to the songs I've written: guitars, vocals, bass, piano, drums, synths, tambourines. Additionally, I'm releasing singles in a piecemeal fashion according to a very deliberate scheme that involves an 8-week release cycle of single (week 0), video (week 2), lyric video (week 4), in-studio acoustic "live" video (week 6), all with social media chatter and such in between. All of this music is currently being released under my name, but I'm open to changing and/or augmenting the name of this musical project after forming a band. Basically, I'm trying to build this thing up the right way and find an audience. The big obvious thing that I'm missing is - you guessed it - a band to actually play this music live with me! COVID lockdown was great for focusing on these tunes and getting them right. Not so great for the band/playing shows part. Ok, now for the obligatory "if you like these bands, you'll probably like playing with me" bit (in no particular order): Jets to Brazil, Radiohead, Wilco, Father John Misty, Anais Mitchell, Drive By Truckers, Kurt Vile, Sleater-Kinney, Fugazi, Elliott Smith, Porridge Radio, Jason Isbell, REM, Pixies... you get it. Important things to note: * I want to put on a fun, high energy show that people talk about and remember later. We're gonna get wild. * Craigslist isn't the only resource I'm using to find musical partners in crime. I'm also calling around. * I am currently spending my own money to make this thing happen. I'm not making any of it back (yet). * Chapel Hill/Carrboro is my stomping ground. I've got a horseless carriage, but the closer you can be to me, the better. * This is a very serious venture for me. It's not a "weekend warrior" sort of thing. Aside from my family, it's the most important thing in my life. * Being cynical about religion will be helpful. Otherwise you might be, um... uncomfortable with some of my lyrics. * Cranked Fender and Vox tube amps. 'Nuff said. * You gotta be vaccinated for COVID, but that should go without saying, right? If all of that sounds cool, hit that email contact link!
