Description
Each month the curated topic changes yet the underlying theme remains constant, "use metacognition to think about HOW you are thinking." At 75 Turner Avenue in Elk Grove Village, IL, "gather 'round the campfire" on Wednesday 18 August 2021 from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. The program runs from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M., and the remaining time is for relaxation and recreation, and to swap summer camp stories — and maybe even some baseball cards. S’mores and other camp bites and beverages will be served in the Enclave Building's repurposed north (front) parking area — weather-permitting (indoors if inclement). Summer-casual, of course — shorts, sandals, etc. are A-okay. Each August, Enclave Learning & Earning Center becomes "Camp Enclave." Its main family-camp-style event is the monthly Making-a-Point Masterclass in Venture-Critical Applied Metacognition, during which organization leaders learn additional ways to think about — and rethink about — how clearly they are thinking. Shawn Hunter, the remarkably entrepreneurial high-impact CEO of The Chicago Dogs Baseball Team, which is located at Impact Field in neighboring Rosemont, IL, is our MVP on the mound to pitch his entrepreneurial thinking story. Shawn was signed to be “Senior Counselor” for Camp Enclave 2021, our family camp-like masterclass for entrepreneurial and eager-minded "campers" — from middle-school-age aspirants through to actively entrepreneurial retirement years. A recent article about Shawn will give you an overview of his stellar credentials to be our featured Senior Counselor at Camp Enclave 2021: https://www.bizjournals.com/chicago/news/2021/07/15/chicago-dogs-owner-shawn-hunter-is-overqualified.html In 2017, Shawn and I met during a reception he held for Chicago leaders. Outside his conference room’s windows, we could see Impact Field under construction. Inside his offices, we could feel his unbridled entrepreneurial enthusiasm for every aspect of what was unfolding in front of our eyes. Shawn was kind to introduce me to most of his senior team, and to a famous baseball coach he had just hired from Boston, with whom I had a lively conversation about the vibrant cultural differences between the U.S. east coast and the Midwest. Even with all that excitement underway, Shawn encouraged me and listened carefully as I quickly squeezed in just a few words about Enclave’s educational mission and our own ribbon-cutting ceremony that was one month or so away. We touched upon how entrepreneurship fuels the sports world, and how he was a shining example of this rarely discussed aspect of sports (i.e., the entrepreneurialism of sports), which is understandably eclipsed by “the game” in minds and the media. During a recent every-room tour of Enclave, Shawn and his Corporate Sales Manager, Scott Foley, demonstrated their enthusiasm for Enclave’s work in supporting entrepreneurs as individuals, which is not psychologically dissimilar to how Baseball supports rising stars in the minor league. Remember, Camp Enclave’s Field of Entrepreneurial Dreams is located at 75 Turner Avenue in Elk Grove Village, IL, on Wednesday 18 August 2021. Enclave Building's repurposed north (front) parking area is our campsite.
