Description

7:30 - Premiere of the Golden Bouzouki 9:30 - Live Performance by Johnny Diamonds The premiere of local director Joel Goulet’s motion picture “The Golden Bouzouki”, produced by Ancient Artifact Studios, is touring the region in August and September, with live music featuring the film’s star, Johnny Diamonds, after the movie. Johnny Diamonds stars as Johnny Orpheus in this musical adventure set in ancient mythological Greece. Johnny returns home to the once peaceful village of Salamis to find that it has come upon troubled times. Assembling a crew of heroes like no other, Johnny sets sail on a song-filled voyage of adventure to obtain the Golden Bouzouki, a legendary musical instrument of divine origin which is said to bring peace to the hearts of all mankind (Not Rated, 1 hour, 48 minutes). After the film screenings Johnny Diamonds’ band The Precious Stones will perform songs from the movie, featuring rare live appearances by Johnny Diamonds himself, his first in over a decade! Inspired by films like Jason and the Argonauts, The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, and Hercules in the Haunted World, while existing in a parallel dimension as movies starring Elvis Presley (Spinout, Roustabout, Kid Galahad, etc.), and relying heavily on D.I.Y. charm, this Rock-N-Roll Musical Adventure is bursting with artistic creativity, lighthearted humor and songs people want to keep listening to. This film has been called "a Backyard Masterpiece". Filmed in locations around the central California coast, and in studios in San Francisco, Sacramento, and Santa Cruz, this sand and sandals epic features acting performances by members of many old school local bands (The Bananas, Hod and The Helpers, The Four Eyes, Personal and the Pizzas, Knock Knock). “The real-life legend of Johnny Diamonds is almost as mythological as the characters he plays on screen, as he seems to exist in a world outside our own, only crossing over to provide us with a kind of entertainment rarely found today. “ -Joel Goulet, Director of The Golden Bouzouki
