The City of Healdsburg is currently recruiting for the exciting opportunity of Park and Facilities Aide in the Community Services Department! The Community Services Department is offering an opportunity to work part-time, alongside a group comprised of cohesive, fun, dedicated and team-oriented professionals! Description Under general supervision, provides general care and maintenance of Parks, Recreation Facilities and Landscape and Turf areas and performs related work as assigned. Examples of Duties: - Assist in general maintenance and cleaning of parks, recreation buildings and facilities - Raking, weeding, mowing and performing miscellaneous park maintenance repair work - Provide presence at public functions to prevent property damage to Parks and Recreation buildings and facilities - Perform set-up and take down tasks for events - Sweep and mop floors, clean restrooms, empty trash containers, and general clean-up duties - Notify appropriate staff of the need for major repairs - Maintain basic record of work performed - Inventory equipment Typical Qualifications Knowledge of: - Methods, materials and equipment used in janitorial and grounds maintenance work; and safe work practices Ability to: - Perform heavy manual labor - Operate effectively and safely a variety of tools and equipment - Perform simple grounds maintenance tasks - Follow oral and written directions and work from simple sketches and diagrams - Work independently in the absence of supervision - Work cooperatively and courteously with the public. License and Certificates: - Must posses and maintain a valid California drivers license during the course of employment A typical way of gaining the knowledge and skills outlined above is: - Equivalent to graduation from high school. - One year experience in custodial and or park maintenance is preferred. Supplemental Information For special events incumbents in this classification must be willing to work off hours, weekends, evenings and holidays. Work may require climbing ladders and carrying and lifting tools, equipment and materials whose weight may exceed 50 pounds and work in an outdoor environment subject to heat and cold while exerting physical effort.
