NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Another Massachusetts business has become the latest victim of the coronavirus pandemic. BeerWorks announced Tuesday that it has closed its Lowell location at 203 Cabot St.
The popular brewery has also closed its four other locations in Boston, Salem, Hingham and Framingham.
"Sad to say but we've brewed and served our last beers. We've decided to pack it in due to the pandemic and all that," said Joe Slesar, the owner. "We will miss you and the many years of fun we had bringing you fresh local beer and food. Beerworks was proud to serve you."
Since March 2020, BeerWorks locations have remained closed. It was during that time that the state ordered a shutdown to all restaurant businesses due to the pandemic.
"We've been able to survive economic downturns, terrorist events and other ups and downs. That being said the current public health emergency and what will be a very slow recovery threatens not just Beer Works but almost every operator," BeerWorks posted three months after the shutdown.
The first BeerWorks location opened in 1992 near Fenway Park.
