Meet Polish-American Actor and Director, Marek Probosz, and view an exclusive screening of "The Death of Captain Pilecki", followed by Q&A.
Experience an extraordinary true story that was buried in the rubble of World War II, and later suppressed by the communist regime until the fall of the Berlin Wall. In 1940, a Polish Army officer Witold Pilecki volunteered for a suicidal secret undercover mission for the Polish Underground: to infiltrate as a prisoner the Auschwitz concentration camp. His main task was to smuggle out intelligence and build a resistance organization among the prisoners. For almost three years he survived starvation, disease and brutality but accomplished his mission. Pilecki was the first one to send his extraordinary reports revealing bone-chilling atrocities to the Allies before his daring escape from the Hell on Earth. After WWII, he was captured by the communist regime in Poland, then tortured and executed in 1948 as a traitor and a "Western spy." Pilecki's story is a shining example of heroism that transcends religion, race and time. It's an inspiring show of valor and integrity. Join us for this rare gem of a movie, and meet an international star, Polish-American actor and director, as well as a prominent figure in European stage, television and film, Marek Probosz, who plays Witold Pilecki in the film "The Death of Captain Pilecki", directed by Ryszard Bugajski.
