So far, states have largely managed their own vaccination coordination efforts — and some have proven more efficient at it than others. In Florida, 48.6% of the population are fully vaccinated, lower than the U.S. average. Lower than average vaccination rates in Florida appear to be attributable in part to less efficient vaccination rollout. As of July 23, Florida has received about 25,778,500 vaccinations and administered about 85.8% of those doses. As the virus mutates and new variants spread, vaccinating the population as rapidly as possible is critical. In total, there have been 2,452,461 confirmed cases of the virus in Florida as of July 23 — or 11,514 for every 100,000 people.
