MILWAUKEE, WI — The Woodland Conference announced Thursday that Ken Schimpf will be the new conference commissioner, according to a news release from the Steve Lodes, president of the conference.
Schimpf will take over for Paul Feldhausen, who is retiring on Sunday, the news release said. The Woodland Conference is made up of 14 schools including Brown Deer, Cudahy, Greendale, Greenfield, New Berlin Eisenhower, New Berlin West, Pewaukee, Pius XI Catholic, Shorewood, South Milwaukee, West Allis, Whitnall, Milwaukee Lutheran and Wisconsin Lutheran high schools.
"I am thrilled to be the Woodland Conference Commissioner. This is a challenging time forInterscholastic athletics, but I believe these challenges also create significant opportunities,"Schrimpf said in the news release.
"I look forward to the challenge of working with the 14 athletic directors andprincipals in the Woodland Conference as the conference takes its next steps. The WoodlandConference's unique blend of schools and talented student-athletes deserve a top-notchexperience both on and off the fields and courts of competition. My intention is to find ways toaccomplish that by focusing the conference administration on best practices in the yearsahead."
Schimpf was a founding member and former president of the Wisconsin Basketball Officials Association. He has nearly 16 years of experience in supporting high school athletics, primarily basketball, the news release said.
