Description
RENTON, WA — Renton detectives are searching for a group of teenagers after a woman's car was stolen at gunpoint Wednesday night, according to police. Investigators said a 911 call came in around 7 p.m. from a woman on the 11900 block of Southeast 165th Street.
She told officers that her car was sitting on the street while she was cleaning her garage when she noticed a half dozen masked teens approaching. As the woman got in her car and started it, she told police one of the teens grabbed her, telling her to get out of the car and threatening her with a gun. As she tried to discourage them, the woman said another teen threatened her with a gun. Two of the boys got into the front seats, and the other four got in the back, and the car sped off towards 120th Avenue Southeast, police said.
A few minutes later, police learned the vehicle was crashed on Grant Avenue South, and the teens ran away from the scene. Police called in a K-9 track and had airborne assistance from Guardian One and police department drones, but not of the suspects were located. Detectives impounded the vehicle to be processed for evidence and fingerprints before releasing it to the owner. The investigation remains active as detectives work to identify those involved.
