Ave., is exhibiting "Essence: In Celebration of Juneteenth," a group exhibition curated by Cedric "Vise1" Douglas, recognizing the first time Juneteenth will be celebrated as a Massachusetts holiday. A meet-the-artist reception for Essence is set for Thursday, July 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. This is 13Forest's first in-person event since the start of the pandemic. Come by and meet the talented group of artists featured in this exhibit, which runs through Friday, Aug. 6. Cedric Douglas, From Creation, acrylic, transfer, wheatpaste, paint marker, spray paint on canvas While we would love to see everyone's faces after going so long without events, we want to do everything possible to keep our visitors safe, so we are asking that you wear a mask if you plan on attending the reception. We will have some masks on hand in case anyone forgets. We will not be serving refreshments, but we hope you'll take advantage of our great local restaurants. Meet Cedric "Vise1" Douglas The gallery is honored to be working with Cedric "Vise1" Douglas for our upcoming exhibition "Essence: In Celebration of Juneteenth," opening June 19. Douglas has curated an exciting group of artists, and we can't wait to share more about the exhibition as we finalize the details. Douglas is an accomplished artist and designer who is known for his socially engaged public art projects and murals. Several years ago Douglas worked on the "Storefront Stories" project (at right) in Arlington that featured 13Forest's Marc Gurton. Douglas is working on a new mural at the former Medfield State Hospital (at left), which "centers on the healing power of music, building on the Hospital's legacy of health and wellness." Read more about the mural in a recent article in the WBUR ARTery. Can't see the table below? Click here to view the original story.
