ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested a local man after they found him asleep in someone else's apartment Tuesday morning in the Westmont area, according to the daily crime report.
Officers responded around 10:30 a.m., for the report of a burglary in progress in the 3800 block of Columbia Pike. Surrounding the apartment, the officers shouted commands for the person inside to exit, but no one responded. After entering the apartment, police were able to take a man into custody without incident.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Adolfo Gustavo Alvarez Perez, 18, of Arlington, had forced his way into an apartment through a window and then fell asleep, according to police.
When officers searched Alvarez Perez, police say they found an undisclosed amount of cash and personal items that belonged to the victims. They also found a shoulder holster and loaded magazine. Searching the bed Alvarez Perez had been sleeping in, police found a firearm, which they determined to have been previously stolen.
ACPD charged Alvarez Perez with burglary and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond.
