NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man was shot and killed on Comstock Street Thursday morning in New Brunswick, said the county prosecutor. The fatal shooting happened at 8:31 a.m. Thursday, when police responded to the area of Comstock Street for a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located one deceased man who sustained an apparent gunshot wound, said the Middlesex County Prosecutor's office. Four days earlier, in an unrelated incident, a man was shot at 8:10 p.m. on Hale Street between Paul Robeson Boulevard and Jones Avenue, near the Rutgers campus. He is not affiliated with Rutgers University, but Rutgers Police responded. He told police he was walking near the intersection of Hale Street and Jones Avenue when he was shot by a perpetrator, a man, who fled the area on foot in a direction away from campus. The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. A description of the shooter is limited at this time. Police patrols continue to be increased in the area and the New Brunswick Police Department asks that anyone with additional information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact the NBPD Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
