By John Gibson, WNIN July 28, 2021 Indiana U.S. Senator Mike Braun is rejecting the Centers for Disease Control's new mask recommendation. In a release, the Jasper native said he fears the nation will "roll right back in to how the heavy hand of government dealt with COVID-19 in the first place." Braun said the rise in infections and hospitalizations should be solved at the grassroots level. He said "Let local governments and businesses deal with it." He urged people to "be respectful of the disease, but exercise individual responsibility." Braun claimed masking and mandates "didn't work from the get-go" and he said we shouldn't return to such measures unless "it makes common sense to do so."
