Description
NEWPORT, RI — Starting next week, mask requirements will return to Newport. All visitors to City Hall and other municipal buildings will be required to wear a mask, beginning Monday.
"The new indoor mask policy is being instituted as COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the country, driven primarily by the spread of the Delta variant and lagging vaccination rates," city officials said in a statement.
The policy applies to all visits to municipal buildings, including attendees of meetings held at City Hall.
Masks will also be required of city staff, when in common areas or while interacting with members of the public.
