KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A Chester County judge issued a warrant to bring in a local contractor charged with theft who didn't show up for court.
On July 16, a bench warrant was issued in District Court 15-4-04 for David Hilton, 41, of Coatesville for failure to appear at his preliminary hearing to face charges of receiving advanced payment for services and failing to perform (the work). The charge is a misdemeanor.
Police allege Hilton not only failed to complete a job he was hired and pre-paid to do, but made off with tools rented to do the work.
On Feb. 4, Kennett Square Borough Police officers investigated several thefts reported from a property in the 100 Block of North Willow Street in Kennett Square.
The victim told police that they hired a private contractor whom they identified as David Hilton, and had paid him for his services, but that he never completed the work he was hired to do.
Through interviews, police concluded Hilton had taken tools that were rented for him to finish the projects he was hired to complete.
