Romeoville Police Help Rescue Pup From Local Storm Sewer Pipe

ROMEOVILLE, IL – A puppy that broke free and hid in a Romeoville retention pond led her owners on a 20-minute game of hide-and-seek was rescued from the storm sewer earlier this week, police said. The nine-month-old puppy, named Natsumi, was on a leash and with her owners when she was able to get away. Police officers, along with local animal control and code enforcement officers, were able to retention pond's water outlet pipe at the northwest corner of Coreopsis Court and West Park Parkway, about 100 feet from where she entered the storm sewer, police said. Officers, Animal Control & Code Enforcement assisted the Almocera family rescue their 9 month old puppy Natsumi after she got herself caught in a storm sewer! #Puppy #Rescue #dogrescue pic.twitter.com/UuZKWy8dKI— Romeoville Police (@Romeoville_PD) July 27, 2021 Police were able to use a catch pole, which was looped around Natsumi to pull the pup out of the sewer drain. Along with being wet and scared, Natsumi had a small amount of bleeding from one of her paws, but the injury did not appear to be serious, police said.
