ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving home repair fraud, a bus break-in, domestic battery, a neighbor dispute, a gift card scam, identity theft, disorderly conduct and DUIs. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Home repair fraud A resident in the 300 block of East Cayuga Avenue told police that she provided a deposit for replacement windows to a suspect, but no work was done. The suspect has ceased all communication with the victim. The deposit was given in March. An investigation is pending. The crime is labeled home repair fraud. Bus break-in Someone entered an unsecured bus and damaged the dashboard and electrical components between July 6 and July 23 at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road. Domestic battery A person in the 600 block of Gladys Avenue told police that a man pushed him and threatened to beat him up during an argument about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. There were no signs of injuries. The first person was previously granted an emergency order of protection against the suspect. The matter was labeled a domestic battery investigation. Neighbor dispute An officer responded to a neighbor dispute about 7:30 p.m. July 26 in the 100 block of South Pick Avenue. It was determined to be a civil matter. Gift card scam A resident on Elm Creek Drive told police that a suspect used her personal information to buy Target gift cards on July 9. An investigation is pending. Identity theft A person told police he used a website to list his home for rent in the 300 block of Larch Avenue on Tuesday. The next day, he learned a person used his rental information and photos without his permission to list his property on several websites. An investigation is pending. Disorderly conduct An employee at Al Piemonte Buick GMC, 364 W. Grand Ave., told police Wednesday that a suspect arrived at his place of employment, caused a scene and left before officers arrived. The manager signed a no-trespass notice for the suspect. An investigation is pending. DUI Anthony Taylor, 39, of Lombard, was arrested about 9 p.m. Wednesday at Route 83 and St. Charles Road on charges of DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released on bond. Lidany R. Cojom Villalta, 18, of Bensenville, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grand and Church on charges of DUI, no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation. The suspect was released on bond. No license Erik Moreno, 41, of Des Plaines, was cited about 7 a.m. Wednesday at Route 83 and North on a charge of no valid driver's license. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
