So, I answered a post here on C-list for a band position. Wow, I actually got a "call back". This person, has NO band, NO leads, NO goals, not even a freakin' songlist, and he asks me for a video. Something, he also, does not have. So.... it seems it takes a video, to get a phone call, to decide when you might meet, to discuss a time, you can get together, with the other members, who ain't there yet. A video, probably the one your girlfriend took in some smoky, empty bar on her phone, which doesn't tell a lot about the "person" themselves. Something, only accomplished by meeting. There is a lot of good talent out there, and to deny them a return phone call, or a meeting, or an audition or a response of any kind without providing a "video" to pre-judge them, or decide if they are worth your time or not, is totally ridiculous. I have videos available, but for established bands only. They also, should be prepared to show one in return. Demanding videos, when you can't provide one yourself, seems to be the 'norm' these days.
C'mon people, don't let that $75 a night, VFW, smoky bar band career fool you. It doesn't take a lot to get there. You are still just a local band, making chump change, like everybody else. Believe me, it doesn't require a video just to accomplish that. Demanding videos, when you can't provide one yourself, seems to be the "norm" these days. If you are too lazy to be serious, then, don't be, but at least give others a chance.
